Woolfley was also commandant of cadets at LSU and served as Louisiana director of civil defense, 1953-1958 and 1960-1964. Military papers covering General Woolfley's army career from 1913 to 1953 including maps and photographs. Woolman graduated from LSU and became the first college-trained county agricultural agent in Louisiana. Captain in the U.S. Army; brother of Major John David Workman, the first LSU student killed in the Civil War; and son of Dr. James Carey Workman of Rapides Parish, Louisiana. Letter from Captain Workman and an address by Judge J. R. Thornton at the presentation of a picture of Major John Workman to LSU. Wright, Jesse D. Papers, 1831-1906 (bulk 1835-1882). 1.2 linear ft. Location: OS:W, UU:248-249. The Wright family owned lands in Louisiana and Texas. Jesse practiced medicine in Rapides Parish, Louisiana and also managed several business concerns, including a store and plantations, and was active in civic and church affairs. Correspondence mostly reflects the business concerns of the Wright family.
